Our Beautiful Challenges
By Marie W.O.W.C.P.
Welcome to Our Beautiful Challenges.
This space is more than a blog.
It is a place for truth, healing, reflection, and the beauty still to be found within life’s hardest moments.
For much of my life, I felt as though people saw one thing first.
The way I walk.
The way I move.
The walker.
The physical challenge.
The visible part of cerebral palsy.
Before they knew my heart, my voice, or my dreams, they often saw the disability.
And for a long time, I let that shape how I saw myself, too.
I began to wonder if that was all people would ever see.
Was I just the woman with cerebral palsy?
Was my life always going to be introduced by the challenge before the person?
Those are heavy questions to carry.
Especially when you are still trying to understand yourself.
There were years when I fought against that part of my identity.
I wanted to be seen as everything else first.
The writer.
The woman.
The dreamer.
The advocate.
The friend.
But as I have grown, I have come to understand something much deeper.
My disability is part of my story.
It has shaped the way I live.
It has shaped the way I love.
It has shaped the way I fight for independence.
It has shaped the compassion I carry for others.
It has shaped the voice I now use to speak truth.
But it is not the whole story.
It is one chapter.
Not the entire book.
There is so much more to who I am.
I am the woman who keeps going.
I am the one who turns pain into purpose.
I am the one who writes beauty out of challenge.
I am the one who has learned to see herself beyond limitation.
Sometimes the world likes to reduce people to the most visible thing about them.
But we are always more than what is first seen.
We are layered.
We are complex.
We are becoming.
This blog is my space to share all of those layers.
The disability.
The healing.
The womanhood.
The grief.
The joy.
The growth.
The life that continues to unfold.
Because I am not just living with a challenge.
I am living a life.
A full, honest, beautiful life.
And this is where I will share it.
Welcome to Our Beautiful Challenges.
Seeing the beauty between the challenges.
